Ingwe Studios graduates set to rock city

The programme is designed to give young and aspiring DJs a chance to learn the basics of being a DJ while at the same time equipping them with the skills necessary to succeed in the entertainment industry.

One of the directors of the initiative, Freddy Mathe, who runs the programme together with DJ Scooby, also known as Butho Mzila, said the studio was happy to see the effort they put into training the DJs come to fruition.

“We are happy that our students are doing something for themselves which is actually what we train them to do,” said DJ Freddy.

One of the students who graduated from the programme, Nigel Moyo, popularly known as DJ Nizhe DeSoulkidd, yesterday said that he is now a regular performer in the city’s clubs and is steadily gaining popularity.

“I have done a lot of mixes that have been received well by the people while right now I am working on a tribal house single called Sabela Mthwakazi,” said DJ Nizhe

He said he was also working on something with renowned local tribal house group Djembe Monks and was booked for shows in Bulawayo and other cities.

“I will be performing at the Scream The Concert and the Midlands State University. My single will be coming out soon,” he said.

The training programme runs for two months and is conducted throughout the year.

DJ Freddy said he hoped to see the likes of Dj Nizhe and other students progressing further in their chosen career paths.

“I hope to see these young people going places because when we look back after two years we want to say we did our jobs properly,” he said.
