Injiva to hang for killing ex-wife

A South Africa-based man who axed his 23-year-old ex-wife (23) and his one-year-six months-old son to death following a misunderstanding over the upkeep of the child has been sentenced to death.

Themba Moyo (31) of Muarakati Village under Chief Sikobokobo, Nkayi, was arrested after evading police for 10 days following the gruesome murder of Ms Lucia Maruvisa.

He also killed his son Muthabisi Moyo. Bulawayo High Court judge Justice Nokuthula Moyo said Moyo deserved a death penalty.

Justice Moyo sitting at the Gweru circuit last Friday convicted Moyo of two counts of murder with actual intent and sentenced him to die by the hangman’s noose.

In her judgement, Justice Moyo said Moyo had killed his ex-wife and child in a gruesome manner that deserved capital punishment. — Midlands Bureau.
