Chikuribi Maximum Prison inmates known as “The Salvation of Man”, have released a gospel album titled “Rega Kumhanya”. The group, which comprises 16 members, sings about the social experiences which they went through before they were jailed. The songs were composed by lead vocalist Kelvin Zulu.

Zulu said singing is his talent which he uses in prison to convert fellow inmates.

“Most of the songs I compose come to me through dreams. To me, it’s a gift and I use these songs to convert my fellow inmates and to spread the gospel of God in prison,” said Kelvin. Tracks on the album include “Tinokukwazisayi Mhoroi”, “Rega Kumhanya”, “Muchaziva Chokwadi”, “Rudo RwaJesu”, “Mambo Ndiani”, “Ndirichisikwa”, “Jesu Igweta”, “Mwari Muchengeti Wangu”. The group looks forward to providing for their families through the income they get from selling their albums. For those with no dependants, their share will be kept until their release.

ZPCS Chikurubi officer-in-charge Assistant Commissioner Ernest Pambayi said the album wa a product of hard work and commitment by the 16-member choir and the release comes at a time when ZPCS is trying to protect society from criminal elements through the incarceration, rehabilitation and reintegration of offenders back into society.

ZPCS Deputy Commissioner-General Moses Chihobvu extended his gratitude to the Faith Ministries Church for their commitment in partnering with ZPCS as this does not only help in offender rehabilitation and intergration but also impacts positively in promoting peace development nationally.

“Peace and development can be achieved once inmates are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills that they can use to sustain their lives and families upon discharge from prison,” he said.

The album was produced by Mono Mukundu and sponsored by the Faith Ministries Church. God wiling, Zulu wishes to continue releasing breathtaking albums in future.
