Inside Mr Moloto’s TV journey: from ‘Skeem Saam’ to ‘The Makhenes’

Businessman and owner of the Limpopo Anti-Drug Gangsterism and Crime (LADGAC) Rehabilitation Centre, Tsebe Phillimon Moloto, previously made headlines for his drug intervention tactics, even making appearances on South African TV shows.

He has been featured on Moja Love channels offering interventions and aid to families struggling with substance abuse.

Earlier this year, Mr Moloto, as he is popularly known, appeared on SABC 1’s “Skeem Saam” when the family of a character, Clement, called him in to assist with their son, who was unwilling to go to rehab.

On the episode, Mr Moloto and his team drag Clement to rehab after he refuses. In a social media video posted around the time of the airing of the episode, Mr Moloto said: “The episodes that Clement does on ‘Skeem Saam’, it is actually happening in real life out there.

“You must know that drugs will change your life. You’ll fight with your family, you’ll hurt your family. They are very dangerous and you know, I always tell people out there, some of the people who are selling drugs, they are actually not smoking drugs.

“So they know the danger of it. They know it will destroy your life. You’ll never go back to school. You’ll never work. You’ll never have a girlfriend for that matter. So be careful and love yourself enough not to touch drugs.”

Most recently, Mr Moloto appeared on the reality show “The Makhenes” to assist with Gontse’s rehab journey. Viewers have seen Letoya Makhene’s younger sister, Gontse, deal with addiction.

Mr Moloto and LADGAC arrived to collect Gontse and take her into rehabilitation at no cost.

Her father, famed musician Blondie, opened up his daughter’s struggles with addiction for over 20 years.

“You cannot trust a drug addict’s word. You can only hope she can hold it and turn the page,” said Blondie during the episode.

Honestly speaking from the bottom of my heart, I want this to be as positive as it can be. I want this pain to be gone from my father’s house to be gone.”

This week, Mr Moloto was granted bail of R50 000 by the Polokwane Magistrates’ Court. He faces two counts of malicious damage to property.

He also made a brief appearance in the Seshego Magistrates’ Court in connection with one of the charges.

It is alleged that Moloto and the complainant were previously involved in a romantic relationship and were business partners at the LADGAC Rehabilitation Centre in Seshego. Following the breakdown of both their personal and business relationship, the complainant allegedly established her own rehabilitation centre.

The State alleges that, on June 28, 2026, Moloto poured a flammable substance onto a Toyota Hilux belonging to the complainant while it was parked at her parental home in Seshego Zone 3. In a separate incident, it is further alleged that Moloto set alight a signage board advertising the complainant’s new rehabilitation business in Ladanna.

The matter was postponed to September 22, 2026 for further police investigations – IOL.
