IS SHE THE BRIGHTEST?

IS she the brightest teenage talent in women’s cricket in the world?

That’s certainly debatable but there is no question that 16-year-old Kellis Ndlovu has started well.

She will return home as the best wicket-taker at the ICC Women T20 World Cup Qualifier held in the United Arab Emirates.

Ndlovu took 11 wickets on her way to earning the gong as the best of the bowlers.

She was also handy with the bat scoring 46 in a six-wicket win over Thailand in a group game.

It was another impressive all-round performance for the rising star.

After helping to restrict Thailand Women to 86 for six in 20 overs by claiming one scalp for only 12 runs in the three overs that she bowled, the teenage sensation then took charge of the chase with a brilliant knock of 46, scored off 40 balls with a single six and six fours.

She then took 3-15 in the seven-run win over Thailand in the battle for third spot on Sunday.

“What a tournament for the only teenager in the team,” Zimbabwe Cricket said.

“She now shifts focus to the Zimbabwe Under-19 currently in camp as part of preparations for the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup next January.”
