AWARD-WINNING musician Nutty O says it’s a huge honour to be nominated for the African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) 2026 to be held in Dallas, Texas, in the United States.

The AFRIMMA Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on September 12 at the Annette Strauss Square at the AT&T Performing Arts Centre.

In an interview with Zimpapers Arts and Entertainment Hub, Nutty O described the nomination as a major step in his career and a reward for years of dedication to his craft.

“It is a huge honour to be nominated for the AFRIMMA Best Male Artiste in Southern Africa.

“This is a profound recognition of my years of hard work, consistency and pursuit of making good music,” he said.

The chanter is in the running for the Best Male Artist – Southern Africa award, a nomination that places him among some of the region’s top music stars.

In the Southern Africa category Nutty O was nominated alongside Yo Maps (Zambia), Cassper Nyovest (South Africa), Kabza De Small (South Africa), Zeze Kingston (Malawi), Scott Maphuma (South Africa), William Last KRM (Botswana) and DJ Maphorisa (South Africa).

Tamy Moyo was also nominated for the Best Female Artist in Southern Africa.

The diva was nominated alongside Charma Gal (Botswana), Bombshell Grenade (Zambia), Makhadzi (South Africa), Mawhoo (South Africa), Uncle Waffles (South Africa), Babalwa M (South Africa), Tyla (South Africa) and Hanna (Zimbabwe).

Nutty O said the nomination has motivated him to continue working hard in the highly competitive music industry.

“Initiatives like these fuel my zeal to keep standing firm and strong in this competitive musical space.

“This nomination alone is a big regional recognition and a major boost to my drive of conquering the international market because from regional, I am now ready to take over the world,” said Nutty O.

The nomination adds to the singer’s growing list of achievements and reflects the increasing global recognition of Zimbabwean music.

Over the years the chanter released hit songs such as Handipere Power and Too Much.

Nutty O is also gearing for his second album release on August 30 in the United Kingdom.

This chanter said the move for an international release was for him to cement his international presence.

“The goal is to dominate space. I want the world to recognise this talent rising from Zimbabwe. My music already has fans across borders and deserves a place on the world stage.

“My music has an international appeal, so I can comfortably perform anywhere across the world,” added Nutty O.

“Furthermore, UK fans are an important niche that has been overwhelmingly supportive, so I want to honour them by giving them the first privilege of sampling it. I am casting my musical net wider beyond Zimbabwe and Africa, the goal being to conquer all four corners of the world.”

His first album “Mustard Seed” was released five years ago.

Nutty O said he believes his fans deserve nothing short of quality.
