‘IT’S JUST FAKE STUFF’. . . Mutambi disowns bucket of maize entrance charge

Edwin Nhukarume

SUNGURA musician, Simon Mutambi, has disowned the poster circulating on social media of a show in which he is charging a bucket of maize for entrance.

The poster, for the ‘show’ slated for August 21 at Kamwanza Beer Hall in Rafingora, had Mutambi as the main act, curtain raised by a band called Hwindingwi Boys.

The admission requirement for the show was written “or a bucket of maize (chibage)”.

Speaking to H-Metro, Mutambi said he wasn’t aware of the show.

“I don’t even know about that show.

“I think there are people who want to tarnish my image,” he said.

The poster generated debate on social media with some music fans scoffing at the musician while others hailed the ‘idea.’

Some social media users believed it was a good idea since the area that was targeted has farmers and people who mostly have grains and livestock rather than hard cash.

Others even defended the idea claiming that Alick Macheso once charged a bucket of maize for entrance in the outskirts.

Those who perceived the idea as ridiculous did not have kind words for the supposed initiative.
