With the nation set to celebrate Unity Day on Thursday, Tuku, who preached the gospel of love and harmony, will be remembered in style on Wednesday.
He is famed for mentoring quite a number of artists, including Mbeu, Jah Prayzah, Suluman Chimbetu, Winky D and Tocky Vibes, among others.
And, Jah Prayzah, who was in good books with the late singer, said he still respects the late icon.
Speaking to H-Metro, Mushapaidze said: “It’s indeed a show to remember as we honour Tuku, who was a legend.
“As a musical group, we really appreciate what he has done for us and other musicians.
“The late Dr Oliver Mtukudzi used to visit us at the studio and each time we would laugh together with him,” said Mushapaidze.
“We urge fans to come in numbers as we remember our legend on December 21. We will unveil a number of surprise acts, who will back Jah Prayzah on the day of the show.”
In another interview, Tuku Music board chairperson and family friend, Tunga Simango, said they feel honoured to celebrate Unity Day commemorations with Jah Prayzah.
“We are excited to celebrate with Jah Prayzah because he is a great artist. Fans should expect a great show as we remember our icon Mtukudzi.
“We need to remember our icon as the great musician that he was,” he said.
Pakare Paye students will also take part as curtain raisers.
Jah Prayzah, who boasts of natural talent, was mentored by the late Tuku.
During his early days in the industry, he collaborated with Mtukudzi and produced the hit song, Cecilia.
After the death of Mtukudzi in 2019, Jah Prayzah released a tribute song titled Gamuchirai.
The song consoled fans to accept nature’s call after the death of the legend.
He left behind a rich catalogue of over 60 albums plus a number of singles.
