JAIVA Arts Centre is set to hold its second annual awards and end of 2016 party at the White City Youth arena today.

The organisers decided to hold the event today because most arts groups were too busy during the festive season.

The three-year-old arts centre has groomed different arts groups in Bulawayo.

There are more than 12 categories that include Best Male and Female dancer, most disciplined, dedicated and Best promoter in which the artists will compete.

The arts centre managing director, Bukhosi Nyathi affectionately known as Mr Jaiva, said the awards were meant to reward those that excelled in 2016.

“The awards are a way of recognising talent in the city as well as those that support the arts industry such as promoters”, said Mr Jaiva.

The arts centre hosts eight groups and has more than 80 active members.

Iyasa, Ezimnyama and Shikisha mapansula will take turns to entertain guests.
