JANET Manyowa’s management faces a challenging decision regarding the future of her annual year-opener concert, as the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC) can no longer accommodate the influx of her fans.

This discussion was ignited by the overwhelming attendance at ANOT 2026 (A Night of Thanksgiving), a musical jamboree that attracted a full house.

Manyowa drew one of the largest crowds ever recorded for a local gospel event in recent years.

The upper and lower decks were filled to capacity, with some fans lingering in the hotel lobby in search of fresh air. Purchasing food and beverages proved difficult, as attendees spent hours queuing while the performances were in full swing.

This remarkable turnout reflects the growing popularity of ANOT over the years.

The appeal of this year’s edition exceeded expectations, particularly after the announcement of a star-studded lineup, which included Ada Ehi from Nigeria, Xolly Mncwango from South Africa, Pastor Charles Charamba and his wife Olivia, Takesure Zamar Ncube, The Unveiled, Ellard Cherayi and his wife Olivia, the Joyfull Praise Choir, and Everton Mlalazi.

On the day of the event, fans began arriving as early as 2pm, eager for the much-anticipated show.

A constant stream of attendees continued to trickle in until 9pm, which nearly caused significant logistical challenges for event organisers.

Discussions among insiders suggest that either changing the venue for ANOT 2027 or making it a two-day event may be necessary if demand for the annual gospel show continues to rise.

While the HICC has become their venue of choice, moving away from it could prove disastrous, as fans have grown accustomed to this location.

“We are humbled by the support we have received from fans, and we recognise that the current venue is becoming too small,” shared Munyaradzi Manyowa, Janet’s husband and manager.

“We will need to make decisions in the future to ensure we can manage the crowd and provide our fans with value for their money.

“As a team, we will conduct a post-mortem of the event to identify areas that need improvement.

“We have tough decisions ahead, but we cannot abandon this venue now it is where it all began. After all, we don’t have many other large venues capable of accommodating our crowd,” he emphasised.

He expressed gratitude to the various stakeholders who contributed to the success of the event.

“We work with a dedicated team of event planners and various stakeholders who have helped elevate our brand.

“We always strive to provide our fans with the best experience possible,” he noted.

The manager, who has been running Janet’s affairs with distinction, is undoubtedly one of the main drivers of this brand.

His job has been made easier as Janet is getting along well with both local and regional gospel stars.

She also showed her humility by including the first family of gospel music Pastor Charles Charamba and his wife, Olivia among the top local acts.

The Charambas not only added variety but also preached love, unity and consistency.

As for Janet, she was at her usual best and continues to evolve with each outing.

She has redefined gospel music by making it enjoyable through her impressive stage presence. Her set always resembles an orchestra, showcasing the hard work that goes into it.

She has raised the standards in gospel music by investing in crucial areas, including choreography, wardrobe, and vocal delivery. Regarding the stage, sound, and lighting, her team has never disappointed, as evidenced by the acts at ANOT 2026.

During the build-up to her event, she preached the eternal gospel of gratitude, peace, and hope.

“Let’s celebrate life, cherish our families, and extend kindness to one another,” she emphasised during the build-up to the event.

She then demonstrated all of this during ANOT 2026, which turned out to be a unique worship experience.
