In a bold move to reignite his music career, South Africa-based Zimbabwean artiste, “Jaycee Rapaddict”, born Sindiso Moyo, has rebranded himself as “Mr Ungayithi Vuu” and re-entered the music scene with a new single titled, Ngixolele.

Formerly known as Jaycee Rapaddict during his hip-hop days and once affiliated with legendary record label Kalawa Jazmee, the artiste said the decision to rebrand was  spurred by a desire to match his new musical identity with a relatable and memorable stage name.

“The name Jaycee Rapaddict no longer aligns with my current direction. I rose to fame with the song Ungayithi Vuu, and everywhere I performed, people started calling me Mr Ungayithi Vuu. So, I embraced the name, to make it easier for fans to connect with my music,” he said.

His latest single, a potential chart-topper already enjoying significant airplay on stations such as Star FM and Skyz Metro FM, signals a new era for the Filabusi-bred artiste.

Featuring celebrated Maskandi singer, “Zinjaziyamluma”, the song fuses genres under the umbrella of Bacardi Music, a pulsating South African house sound known for its booming  basslines and repetitive minimalist beats. The joint was produced by Charfrizer SA from Limpopo, while the music video, already turning heads, was shot by Stan B in Durban.

The new track, Mr Ungayithi Vuu said: “is about acknowledging one’s mistakes and seeking forgiveness from anyone you might have wronged, be it in relationships, with friends, neighbours or even colleagues. The song is a message of humility and reconciliation.”

His collaboration with Zinjaziyamluma, a respected voice in the Maskandi genre, was a long time coming. The two artistes had first discussed working together five years ago, and Mr Ungayithi Vuu believes the timing of the project was spiritually aligned.

“Zinjaziyamluma was at the top of my list. I’ve always admired his musicality, and when I wrote Ngixolele, I envisioned a powerful Maskandi chorus. I’m from Filabusi, he’s from Tsholotsho, this song is about uniting people through music,” he said.

For Zinjaziyamluma, the collaboration was equally fulfilling.

“Mr Ungayithi Vuu is among the most promising new-generation artistes. When he approached me, I immediately said yes because I admire his humility and creativity. We had great chemistry in the studio and, the final product speaks for itself,” Zinjaziyamluma said.

With Ngixolele, Mr Ungayithi Vuu did not just release a single, but reintroduced himself to the music world with a message, a movement and a new musical identity. If early reception is anything to go by, this comeback might just earn him a spot at the top again.
