Jazz musician Jean Masters will honour her late father Joe Masters through an album that will be released next month. Sister Jean, as the musician is affectionately known, said she would remix songs from her late father’s album and add her own releases.“We will be releasing the album the same date my father died and some of the songs will be his stuff,” said Jean.
Joe Masters died on February 23 2010.
“He did a lot for us and for the music industry so I think there is need to honour him,” she said.
She said all the ground work of the album has been laid and that fans should look forward to a complete package.
“Our previous album “Misi Haifanane” did well on the market and that alone gave us confidence to offer a new package to our fans,” she
said.
Born in Harare in 1988, Jean first tried her hand in music about five years ago, with the JM Seasons Band, a move that was initially met
with resistance by her parents.
However, her persistence finally paid off, after her parents allowed her to practise with the band realising her passion in music.
Barely a year after trying her luck in music, she went on stage during the band’s many tours and fans fell in love with her style and voice.
Jean has got an awesome stage presence, and is able to communicate with her fans, whenever she is on stage.
The album was recorded and mastered at KBN Studios, while the music was arranged by Knowledge Nkoma who is also her husband.
On Sunday she will be sharing the stage with the contemporary reggae musician Jah Prayzah at Mega 1 in Graniteside.
Filda Muchabaiwa who is the Jah Prayzah’s manager said they were happy to be sharing stage with the young musician.
“We have been working with her for a long time and she is cooperative and hard working,” said Muchauraya.
She added that they were giving their hand to the musician’s coming project.
