CAPS United president Farai Jere, has dismissed reports on social media that they are negotiating a potential partnership deal with Econet Wireless founder Strive Masiyiwa.
The Green Machine becomes the second African club to be linked with the billionaire businessman this week.
On Tuesday, reports emerged, mainly on social media, that Masiyiwa, whose company once sponsored the domestic Premiership, was set to take over Supa Diski side SuperSport United.
However, SuperSport officials dismissed the reports by declaring that their franchise was not up for sale.
Jere is on record saying he will only hand over the club to anyone who can provide guarantees that he can sink, an average, US$40 000, a month, into the franchise.
“We haven’t been in contact with any representative from Masiyiwa’s stable, it’s all lies,” said Jere.
“Of course, everyone is fully aware of our situation and it will be our desire to welcome a deal of such magnitude.
“People have now normalised a tendency of saying whatever they wish to say even when it doesn’t have any truth in it.
“People just wake up and come up with all sorts of reports and transactions, even when they know there is no grain of truth in all that.
“For the sake of those who are interested in partnering with our brand, I can confirm that our doors are wide open.”
Last weekend, Makepekepe ended their seven-game losing streak when they edged Taurai Mangwiro’s Harare City 2-1 at the National Sports Stadium.
William Manondo, who is the league’s leading goal scorer, ended his six-match goal drought with a brace, in the victory.
Their Sunday opponents, Black Rhinos, are sitting eighth on the log and the two sides settled for a 1-1 stalemate in the reverse fixture.
