Jere happy with Rufaro’s progress

Premier Soccer League chairman, Farai Jere is happy with the progress being made at Rufaro ahead of the 2024 campaign. 

Jere toured Rufaro yesterday where he assessed the developments taking place at the invitation of Harare mayor, Jacob Mafume. 

The CAPS United director believes Rufaro will be good to go if a few areas are attended with speed with the ZIFA First Instance Board, which is responsible for approving stadiums, expected to decide before the end of this week. 

Rufaro last hosted Premiership matches in 2019 and there is a growing belief that the capital could have at least three stadiums ready for this campaign. 

Yadah’s Heart Stadium and the National Sports Stadium are also under consideration. 

With regards to Rufaro, Jere said most areas of great concern appear to have been covered. 

“There is a lot of progress compared to what I saw the last time, the dressing rooms are looking better and they have also added more showers. 

“The pitch is also looking fine and maybe what is now left is some final touches on it, then it’s going to make these games interesting. 

“The toilets and turnstiles were my biggest worries but I can see a lot of work was done to improve these areas. 

“They have also replaced the unwanted goalposts with the new ones and that was also a key area that needed to be worked on,” said Jere. 

Meanwhile, Simba Bhora could also play their home fixtures for the 2024 Premiership season at Wadzanai, which is also almost ready for inspection. 

Simba starts their fixtures programme on the road against Manica Diamonds while their home game follows against GreenFuel.
