SPORTS Deputy Minister Emilia Jesaya has hailed Blessing “Bibidho” Muzarurwi for winning the All-Africa Pool Association (AAPA) Heyball Singles Championship in Durban, South Africa.
The Zimbabwean managed to defeat South Africa’s Kyle Akaloo 9-8 in the final.
During yesterday afternoon’s meeting with Jesaya, where he was accompanied by Zimbabwe Pool Association (ZIPA) representatives, Muuzarurwi was commended for his success.
“We are grateful to Team Zimbabwe for coming fourth in the overall rankings against 18 teams and for Muzarurwi who won the individual accolade.
“We support all sports as they keep our youths away from the menace of drug and substance abuse.
“The team did us proud and we are hopeful we will continue to support our athletes,” said Jesayi.
The 23-year-old Muzarurwi is a dominant force in blackball pool in the country and started to represent the country in 2024.
“I am grateful to my teammates, the association and everyone who has been supportive throughout my career.
“I have come a long way representing the Fish Eagles and I hope to continue doing so.
“Meeting officials in the high office like the Ministry is every athlete’s dream and I am happy that I managed to do so,” said Muzarirwi.
