The committees are made up of provincial chairpersons from the youth, women and main wings of the three political parties that are signatories to the Global Political Agreement.
Speaking at the launch, Jomic co-chair Mr Frank Chamunorwa said the provincial structure will ensure that situations likely to result in political violence were handled at an early stage.
“We have been polarised for too long and there is need to work together to resolve our problems and conflicts so that the country can move forward,” he said.
“This will ensure that the problems are solved locally without always calling on outsiders to come in to mediate.”
The provincial structure will deal with conflicts before they are referred to the Jomic national committee.
Jomic national committee member Cde Oppah Muchinguri said there was need for a concerted effort to quell violence and ensure harmonious co-existence. She said leaders should come up with solutions to problems. Youths who attended the meeting said some politicians sponsored them to engage in political violence. They cited poverty as one of the contributing factors to political violence.
Superintendent Gibson Shumba of the Zimbabwe Republic Police said of late there had been no cases of political violence reported in the province.
