Ms Mariga deferred the matter to January 19.
Allegations against Mwendamberi arose on January 11 when Brighton Matimba parked his vehicle, a Nissan Hardbody with registration number ACB6000, at the car park opposite Hunyani Beerhall in St Mary’s, Chitungwiza.
It is alleged that Mwendamberi used duplicate keys to unlock the vehicle belonging to Evans Murombedzi and stole a JVC car radio and a car jack.
The property stolen was valued at US$10 070.
After that he used the same tactic and unlocked Matimba’s car, started the engine before driving it to an unknown destination.
As he was enjoying the ride, he was involved in an accident just after Zincar garage along Seke Road.
The car was seriously damaged, though Mwendamberi escaped unhurt.
The following morning, Matimba went to the car park to get his car, but could not find it.
This prompted him to file a police report leading to Mwendamberi’s arrest.
Mr Henry Muringwa prosecuted.
