compete in the Junior Davis Cup, Junior Fed Cup and the World Junior Tennis tournaments in Egypt next month.
The three competitions are set to run from June 20 to 26 in Cairo.
The Junior Davis Cup and the Junior Fed Cup will be catering for the Under-16 players while the World Junior Tennis tournament is targeting the 14 and under ones.
Ronzai Saurombe, Taremeredzwa Mariga and Courtney Lock will represent the nation in the Junior Davis Cup while Thabile Tshatedi, Valeria Bhunu and Lorraine Mandingwa will fight for the top honours in the Junior Fed Cup.
Tadiwa Chinamo, Ngoni Chiwewete and Alywn Mushonga will compete in the World Junior Tennis tournament boys’ section while Nicole Dzenga, Karen Muswere and Karen Machisa will battle it out in the girls category.
Most of the players were selected according to their performance at the African Junior Championships in Botswana last month.
Only Machisa and Lock had to fight for places in the team in the play-offs held in Harare since they did not compete in the AJC.
The teams have already begun their preparations with the players in South Africa working under the guidance of Gwinyai Tongoona while Richmore Murape and Prince Madema are working with those in Harare.
Freeman Nyamunokora is in charge of the Mutare-based players.
Murape and Nyamunokora will be travelling with the players for the competitions.
The three competitions will be played on clay courts and Nhokwara said the players will be training on similar courts in the last two weeks of their preparations so that they adjust as they are used to hardcourts.
“In the last two weeks of training we have recommended that they move to clay courts. Ronzai is already in Italy for a month’s tour and he will fly directly to Egypt for the competition.
“He is our trumpcard with that month experience we expect him to at least reach the semi-final while Nicole has a good ranking in Africa as well as Valeria. Hopefully we might qualify for the next stage of the competitions,” said Nhokwara.
Nhokwara said the three tournaments will also act as part of their preparations for the All-Africa Games scheduled for Maputo, Mozambique, from September 3 to 18.
