Chronicle Reporter

THE eagerly awaited Covid-19 vaccines for Bulawayo have just arrived from Harare ahead of the vaccination programme in the city on Monday.

The consignment arrived in a Ministry of Health and Child Care truck this morning and subsequently taken to the Bulawayo City Council Khami Pharmacy.

Bulawayo Provincial Affairs Minister Judith Ncube is expected to preside over the official handover ceremony later in the day.

The country’s vaccination programme started in Harare yesterday, with Vice President Dr Constantino Chiwenga, who is also the Minister of Health and Child Care volunteering to take the first jab.

The Vice President turned up at Wilkins Infectious Diseases Hospital in Harare and took his first dose of the Sinopharm vaccine donated to Zimbabwe by China. Health workers are on the priority list of those to be vaccinated.
