FORMER Acting City of Mutare Town Clerk Mr Tinashe Mtetwa was recently relieved of his duties for being away without official leave as well as disobeying lawful instructions from his superior.

The current Acting Town Clerk Mr Blessing Chafesuka confirmed the development.

“Yes, Mr Tinashe Mtetwa was relieved of his duties for being away without official leave as well as disobeying lawful instructions from his superior.

“This follows his suspension from the office of Acting Town Clerk by the Mayor. After that suspension, he was supposed to revert to his old duties of Water Engineer while reporting to the City Engineer.

“In protest against the decision by the Mayor to suspend him, Mr Mtetwa absented himself from work thereby the City Engineer, as his immediate boss, duly suspended him and charged him for being away without official leave as well as disobeying lawful instructions. The verdict was dismissal,” said Mr Chafesuka.
