Government has dismissed a salary schedule circulating on social media purporting to be the December package for junior and senior doctors ranging from $8 000 to over $26 000.

In a statement, the Health and Child Care Ministry said the the last salary increment awarded to doctors was of 100 percent effected in October. This increment saw junior doctors earning around $4 000, contrary to the $8 610 currently circulating on social media as December package.

The fake salary schedule

“It has come to the attention of the Ministry of Health and Child Care that there is a document circulating on social media purporting an upward review of doctors remuneration package by Government. This statement is false and mischievous as Government has not reviewed salaries of doctors and other Health workers in the manner purported in this document.

“Government distances itself from this false announcement, which should be dismissed with the contempt it deserves. The last official review of salaries by Government was in September 2019 when all its Health workers where awarded a 100 percent increase, which still stands,” reads the statement released by the Ministry’s public relations department.
