JUST IN: Man (29) Found Murdered in Southwold

POLICE in Bulawayo have launched a manhunt after a 29-year-old man was found murdered along Evesham Road in Southwold suburb, Bulawayo in the early hours of Sunday.

Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Nomalanga Msebele, confirmed the incident which occurred on June 30 at around 1.30AM.

She said the body of the now-deceased, Gift Moyo of Southwold, was discovered by a company driver who had been transporting workers from a local lounge in the city.

“The 33-year-old driver, who resides in Solusi, was on duty ferrying employees along Plumtree Road. One of the employees requested to be dropped off along Stratford Road in Southwold. As the driver turned into the road and drove for about seven metres, he spotted a person lying on the ground,” said Insp Msebele.

“The driver stopped the vehicle and approached the person to check if they needed help. Upon closer inspection, he realised the individual was unresponsive and appeared lifeless. He immediately reported the matter to the police.”

She said police officers attended the scene and confirmed that Moyo had died.

“The body had a deep stab wound on the left lower chest and another on the upper back-right shoulder,” said Insp Msebele.

She appealed to members of the public who may have information that could assist in the investigation to contact any nearest police station.

“Police are treating this as a murder case and investigations are underway. We urge anyone with information leading to the arrest of the suspect to come forward,” said Insp Msebele.
