JUST IN: Stanbic Bank appoints Mahachi as new CFO

STANBIC Bank has appointed seasoned banker, Mr Tafadzwa Mahachi, as its chief financial officer (CFO), with effect from 1 March 2021.

He replaces Mr Solomon Nyanhongo who was appointed substantive chief executive officer in January this year.

Mr Mahachi is a chartered accountant and a holder of a Bachelor of Accounting Science Honours Degree and a post-graduate diploma in auditing.

In a statement, the bank’s board chairperson, Mr Gregory Sebborn, said Mr Mahachi will join the board of directors as executive board member of the Standard Bank Group subsidiary.

“I am pleased to announce the promotion of Tafadzwa Mahachi to the role of chief financial officer and executive board member of Stanbic Bank Zimbabwe, effective 1 March 2021,” said Mr Sebborn.

Mr Mahachi has been with Stanbic Bank since 2008 and has served as head of finance. Earlier, he was seconded as head of finance for Standard Bank Eswatini for almost a year. The bank said Mr Mahachi brings with him a wealth of banking experience, which is envisaged to drive the financial services institution forward.

In an accompanying congratulatory note, Mr Nyanhongo said Mr Mahachi has an exceptional understanding of the wider financial services industry and has become an integral player in the banking sector at large.
