A 26-YEAR-OLD man from Fort Rixon in Matabeleland South province has appeared in court after he allegedly raped a juvenile aged 14 who was herding sheep.
Talent Nkomo appeared before Bulawayo regional magistrate, Joseph Mabeza, facing a charge of rape. He pleaded not guilty and was remanded in custody to 8 July.
Allegations against Nkomo are that sometime in August at around 3 pm, Nkomo met up with the juvenile at a field in Chatada Village.
Nkomo proposed love to the victim and she turned down the proposal and this did not go well with him. He lifted the victim and took her to a bush.
The victim tried resisting but was overpowered and did not scream.
She was forced to sit down on the ground and he went on to order her to lie on the ground.
Nkomo undressed the juvenile and raped her once without protection. After the act, he dressed up and went away, leaving the victim at the scene.
The victim narrated the ordeal to her mother and the matter was reported to the police.
Investigations were conducted, leading to the arrest of the suspect.
The victim was taken to the hospital and a medical report was produced in court as evidence.
