Kabila forms unity govt

Joseph_kabila2KINSHASA. — Democratic Republic of Congo President Joseph Kabila has formed a national unity government that will still be led by Prime Minister Matata Ponyo, the national broadcaster announced on Monday.

The new government whose formation has been awaited since October 2013 when national dialogue took place, will comprise three deputy prime ministers.

They include Thomas Luhaka, secretary general of Movement for Liberation of Congo (MLC, opposition) who will equally be in charge of posts and telecommunication ministry, Evariste Boshab who is the secretary-general of the ruling party and who will take charge of the interior ministry as well as Willy Makiashi who will equally be in charge of labour affairs.

The new government of 47 members is comprised of two ministers of state and ten ministers from the previous government. — Xinhua.
