WARRIORS forward Tinotenda Kadewere has suffered a setback in his bid to feature at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after sustaining a serious knee injury.
The 29-year-old striker tore the medial meniscus in his right knee during a training session last week and has since undergone surgery.
In a statement, his Greek club Aris Thessaloniki confirmed the development, expressing disappointment over the timing of the injury.
“Unfortunately, the news is not good for Tino Kadewere. According to the MRI results, the Zimbabwe international striker, who was injured in training, suffered a torn medial meniscus in his right knee and will undergo immediate surgery,” the club said.
The operation is expected to keep Kadewere out for at least three months, effectively ruling him out of Zimbabwe’s campaign at the 2025 AFCON finals set for December.
The injury comes at a difficult time for both player and country, with the Warriors counting on his experience and attacking prowess as they prepare for the continental showcase.
