HIGHLANDERS coach Kelvin Kaindu believes a point collected against Ngezi Platinum at Baobab yesterday is better given their poor record away from home.
Kaindu was speaking after their goalless draw, a game they needed to win to keep themselves within reach of the pacesetters.
The draw means they are now seven points behind log leaders MWOS who floored Dynamos at Ngoni yesterday.
“I think for us to get a point, we haven’t done very well when we have travelled but we picked our second point away from home,” said Kaindu.
For Ngezi Platijum Stars, this was two dropped points at home.
The stalemate extended Highlanders unbeaten run to six matches while it was Ngezi Platinum second draw at home having been earlier held to another goalless draw by Greenfuel.
The 2023 champions, Ngezi Platinum Stars had themselves to blame having failed to utilise chances that came their way in the first period.
Putting up a dominance perfomance, which saw them having an upper share of possession and in the process opening the Highlanders defence, Ngezi Platinum Stars frontline fired blanks
Malvin Gaki,Talent Chamboko and Takunda Benhura took turns to waste clear cut chances in the first-half.
It was another good day in office for Richard Hachiro who put another man of the match performance in the middle of the park.
Despite having to rely on counter-attacks Highlanders had some fine exchange of passes, but found it difficult to penetrate the Ngezi defence.
Bosso recorded a single shot on target.
The tables turned in the second period as Highlanders returned a more better side and determined to get a result.
Just like their counterparts in the first half, Highlanders could have walked away winners in second half had they been clinical in front of goal.
About 15 minutes from time, Highlanders were unlucky not to get a goal after Farai Madhanaga had miscue while trying to clear a Never Rauzhi attempt. The ricocheted ball went on to hit the upright.
Ngezi Patinum Stars coach Takesure Chiragwi beamoned the missed chances in the first-half.
“I think we should have wrapped the game first half.
“We had so many chances, we could have taken the game away from the Highlanders, but we failed to get the goals.
“We did everything we could, we had control of the game, good interchange of passes, transition, going into attack, but we failed to convert,” said Chiragwi.
