Kaitano happy with a point

JOHANNESBURG. – Sekhukhune United head coach Kaitano Tembo says he was pleased with Babina Noko’s performance despite seeing his side held to a goalless draw by Cape Town City in the DStv Premiership at Athlone Stadium on Tuesday.

The Limpopo club came into this encounter having suffered two losses in a row at the expense of Swallows FC and Royal Am with the same scoreline of 2-1 and they couldn’t afford to lose another game.

Speaking in the post-match interview with the club’s media officer, Tembo reckons that he was happy with Sekhukhune’s display as the club attempt to make progress under the Zimbabwean’s stewardship.

The ex-SuperSport United mentor further said that he felt like his side had dominated the majority of the showdown and they intend to build on their performance moving forward.

However, the 52-year-old coach was left disappointed with his team’s finishing against the Citizens but insists that they will address his side’s inability to put away bug-scoring chances.

“You know, our problems are in terms of converting the chances that we have been creating,” said Tembo.

“But in terms of the performance, I think we have been playing well. And today I was quite happy, most importantly that we managed to keep a clean sheet which was very good.

“Defensively we were solid. The only problem was when they had that one opportunity with Mayo [Khanyisa] that header there. I think we were a better team and had better chances.

“However, it is always difficult coming to Cape Town to play City and we came played like that [well] I’m very proud of the guys. We can now build from this performance.”

Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has admitted that his side is slightly off track with their season targets.

With just two wins and four goals scored after six games played, Amakhosi find themselves on the wrong side of the table in 12th place.

Losses against Royal AM, Mamelodi Sundowns and Cape Town City have put serious dents into new coach Zwane’s first campaign at the helm, and the 48-year-old has acknowledged that his side is slightly off track with their season targets.

“The target was to get 21 points in 10 games. When you analyse our league. In 30 games, if you get 21, 21 and 21 that gives you 63 points. which puts you in a good position to either be winning or competing for the title,” Zwane said.

“We missed an opportunity to get the three points [Against AmaZulu] and are a bit short of the target we set ourselves for the first 10 games so now we have to dig deeper to make it up.” KickOff/FARPost
