DRUNKARDS FC organiser, Lionel Dangirwa, said their name defines what his boozers’ outfit does after matches.

He said the team was formed during a beer drinking session and, after realising that their rate of consumption was unhealthy, they decided they needed to exercise.

When the name Drunkards was suggested by one of them, it was unanimously backed.

They soon discovered that they had more in common than just drinking.

The boozers’ outfit is sponsored by RentACar Zimbabwe and Orion Black.

Dangirwa said the social league has helped some of their players to fight depression and improve their physical fitness.

“We are not registered with any social league and are not planning to do so soon.

“We are focused on getting everyone fit.

“We have ladies who play for us and we wouldn’t want to chase them away by joining an organised league.

“At Drunkards FC, we encourage everyone to drink responsibly and not to drink and drive,” said Dangirwa.
