“I want to hand my fans an early Christmas gift by releasing this album after I have been quite for some time due to other commitments”, said Kalabash.
Songs on his forthcoming album talk about social issues such as love, hatred, fame among other topical issues.
Some of the tracks on the album include “Mari”, a gospel song “Sei Jehovah”, “Zvidhafudhafu, Burn Up”, “Never Forget”, “Ndini”, “Munyika Muno”, “Munhu Haaurayiwe”, “Usapomere Hwahwa”, a reply to “Sorry Ndanga Ndakadhakwa” and “Maninja.”
Kalabash returns after almost a decade with a promising masterpiece which is going to be the talk of the town by dancehall lovers.
Kwenda who has shifted from back tracking is now performing with a live band.
“I have since stopped using CDs and I am now using a live band a step indicating maturity in my career.
“One thing I have noticed in the industry is if you make good musicyou will survive the competition,” he said.
Many fans have been wondering where Kuligan and Kalabash are, but heard of one Kuligan in Maskiri’s song “Wenera”.
“Kuligan is doing fine in South Africa, while I remained behind to start something different. Our fans were curious to know about me, but Iam proud to say that I might be down but not out,” he said.
Kuligan and Kalabash were a group, originally from the sugarcane farming town of Chiredzi, relocated to Harare for a reunion and to take the music industry by storm.
But all was not rosy for the two and this led to Kudakwashe “Kuligan” Kanyimo to go South Africa to study sound engineering.
Kwenda studied metal fabrication and has been working for a local company before he disappeared from the limelight.
