This will be the fourth memorial show to be held in memory of the late musician after the inaugural one at the Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex in 2000.
The second gig was at held at Jimalo Sports Bar in Highfield in 2005 and the third in Kadoma (2007).
The first memorial show saw System’s widow, Barbara, benefiting from the proceeds after 27 groups, including Kamusena and Boys DzeSmoko performed to raise funds for the Tazvida family.
“The aim of the show is to pay homage to the Smoko music founder (System) and we are grateful for the direction he showed us.
“And for that we have decided to remember and immortalise him for the work and contribution he made in the development of music in Zimbabwe,” Kamusena said.
He added: “If artistes like Bob Marley are remembered every year why can’t we do the same for our own? This is another way of reviving the genre.”
A biography of the late artiste will be read at the gig while fellow musicians and the Minister of Media, Information and Publicity, Cde Webster Shamu, are expected to grace the event.
Kamusena and his group – Boys DzeSmoko – will entertain people at the show and also use the platform to perform some songs carried on his forthcoming album titled “Moto Mubherina”.
Kamusena last released “Panorira Ngoma” and has been performing in Mozambique for the past three years.
