KANINDO singer Shantel Sithole successfully launched her fourth album “Comment Section” on Wednesday at the Zimbabwe College of Music.
The event was graced by business people, socialites and fellow musicians, among them Ndunge Yut, Carlos Green, Obert Chari, Kireni Zulu and Prince Chigwida.
“Joy Inombodiwa”, “Hondo”, “Marefree” featuring Mark Ngwazi, “Nitakuimbiya Kiswahili”, “Ndakakuyambira”, “Kumba Ndinodzoka”, “Baba Mukuru” and “Comment Section” make up the eight-track album.
The album was sold during an auction, with the highest bidder, Dr Terrence Musekiwa – who is the founder and owner of Greenlife Healthcare – pledging US$3 000 for a copy.
Dr Musekiwa also appointed Shantel as the brand ambassador for the health institution.
Tete Boka, the patron of Chiya Growers, was the second highest bidder after she bought a copy for US$2 500 and appointed Shantel a brand ambassador for the company.
Several other people in attendance bought copies of the album.
“I am so excited by the success of this launch and the way the album was bought. For the last few years, I did three albums but they did not sell like this one,” said Shantel in an interview with The Sunday Mail Online.
Some of her fans had already bought the new album before the launch.
“I sold my album before the official launch and there are so many people who still want it. It is encouraging to realise that fans appreciate my work,” said Shantel.
Her husband, Gibson Makumbe, who is her producer and manager, was satisfied with the turn-out at the launch.
“I am proud of what my wife is doing as a musician. I also want to thank everyone who supported us to make this launch a success,” he said.
