Kapenya calls for team of technical advisors at Bosso

LEGENDARY former Highlanders skipper Dazidelio Kapenya has called for the formation of a technical team that will be responsible for identifying and reviewing coaches’ performances at Highlanders.

Kapenya said it was unfair to the team’s millions of supporters to entrust the task to the executive who might not even be fundis in the game, but just mere administrators.

“I think the system and modus operandi needs to the changed at Highlanders. We need to have a technical team; a line-up of experts in the game; people who understand strategies employed by a coach. At the moment, our situation really doesn’t help us because even the people who employ and fire aren’t really technical people, but if we’re to have a technical committee, people who would be able to take the coach head-on on his strategies, I’m sure Highlanders will greatly benefit,” he said.

Kapenya, a winner of four championship medals, said he was deeply pained by the present state of affairs at Highlanders.

“I don’t want to point fingers at anyone, but big clubs have proper committees and Bosso is a big club, a brand, and we need that. Some of the problems at Highlanders could probably be because of poor judgment in terms of recruitment. Monday meetings should be technical meetings, where the coach will be grilled by people who know football and the committee will then brief the executive,” said Kapenya.
