Karoi gaffer confident

Sports Reporter
KAROI United coach Levison Salous is confident they will maintain their good run at home when they host Flame Lily today at Chikangwe in the Northern Region Division One soccer league.

They take on the former Premiership side this afternoon hoping to bounce back to winning ways after losing 0-1 to Mushowani away from home last week.

Salous said they will be looking for nothing less than a win as they hope to continue with their good record at home from last year.

“So far my team has been doing well. I am happy with the performance of the boys. Besides losing to Mushowani last week, the boys are doing well.

“With the way the boys are playing I think we can take any team and we are expecting a win tomorrow (today). At home it’s our culture to win. The first game we played Gunners and we won 4-3,” said Salous.

Karoi United, who finished seventh in the previous season, lost only one match at Chikangwe, which has become their fortress.

“For us it’s about playing good football and playing our normal game, the passing game.

“Last season we lost only one game at home to Herentials. So we are very confident that if we are going to lose at home it will be a draw. We are just expecting a good performance from the boys.

“I think if we finish the season in the top five that will be good for us. If we win the championship race it will be a bonus,” said Salous.

Karoi will be pinning their hopes on their regular players such as captain Innocent Chiwaridzo, defender Vice Chasara and striker Nixon Kondo, who scored a brace in their 4-3 victory over Gunners two weeks ago.

Flame Lily, who returned to Division One after spending just one season in the Premiership, will also be out for a win. In other matches today, Chegutu Pirates lock horns with Cranborne Bullets at Pfupajena.

ZRP Morris will be travelling to Kariba for their tie against Lake Harvest tomorrow at Nyamhunga.
