However, the water treatment works have a capacity of 305 cubic metres per hour.
Zinwa Manyame Catchment Area manager Engineer Takudza Makwangudze said the repair works had ensured that Karoi residents have reliable water supplies.
“Currently we are able to meet water supply demands for almost all our residents on the supply network after our repair and expansion works,” he said.
Mr Makwangudze said there was, however, anticipated increase in demand for water because of existing housing schemes not yet on the supply grid and new schemes.
Karoi draws water primarily from Blockley Dam and periodically Karoi Dam.
Residents interviewed confirmed received tap water.
“We are now guaranteed of reliable water supplies even if it is not for the whole day but at least there is water twice in the morning and evening,” said Mrs Tawona.
Meanwhile, Zinwa recently donated foodstuffs and blankets to the Karoi Old People’s home and Children’s Home.
The homes have 17 people and 75 children respectively.
The old people are mostly of Malawian, Mozambican and Zambian origin and have no relatives.
Most of the children were dumped by their parents or have lost their parents and have no one to look after them.
