Karoi man arrested for assaulting a woman at a bar toilet

A DISTURBING incident at a Karoi bar has led to the arrest of a 53-year-old Chikangwe, Mashonaland West man, who indecently assaulted a woman by inappropriately touching her private parts.

In a statement, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe said the incident occurred on November 17 last year.
The woman who was drinking at a bar in Chikangwe, Karoi went to relieve herself in the female toilet.
“The accused trailed her into the restroom and inappropriately touched her private areas without permission. He made unwanted sexual advances, explicitly stating his desire for intercourse and ran away,” said the NPAZ.

The incident was reported to the police and subsequently, the suspect was taken into custody.

“He was sentenced to six months imprisonment of which three months were suspended for five years. The remaining three months were suspended on condition that he completes 105 hours of community service.”
