PRESIDENTIAL and Devolution Permanent Secretary Engineer Tafadzwa Muguti has said the Government now demands more from the Provincial Affairs and Devolution Ministers who previously played a ceremonial role in governance.

Eng Muguti said this on Wednesday afternoon while touring Premier Portland Cement (PPC) at Cement side in Bulawayo.

He is touring projects in Matabeleland North and has revealed that due to the new responsibilities provinces have been assigned new responsibilities in line with the national thrust.

Provincial Affairs and Devolution departments are now expected to grow their provincial gross domestic product which in turn will feed into the national budget.

He said Government has employed additional staffers including engineers, economists among other officials to the provincial ministers’ offices.
