Takunda Ganhira (23) of Plot 12 Parandel Farm, died while being taken home after the attack.
Mashonaland West provincial police spokesperson Inspector Clemence Mabgweazara, confirmed the incident adding that investigations were in progress.
Ganhira and Jameson Tafireyi (19) of Plot 2 Kapena Farm, Tengwe in Karoi, Hurungwe were drinking beer at Plot 1. It is alleged Tafireyi lit a cigarette before grabbing Ganhira’s rooster and forced a cigarette between its beak. This did not go down well with Ganhira who stood up and punched Tafireyi once in the face. Miffed by the attack Tafireyi stood up and kicked Ganhira once on the neck and he collapsed. He lay unconscious for an hour. Tafireyi fled the scene.
“When he woke up, his relative escorted him but his condition got worse along the way and they sought temporary shelter hoping that he would recuperate,” he said.
However, he died at around 1am. Tafireyi is still on the run.
