THE Kart Sports Club is set to host its highly anticipated third race meeting of the year today, promising an action-packed day of competitive motorsport and continued progress for kart racing in the country.

With strong entry numbers across multiple classes, this weekend’s event is shaping up to deliver some of the closest racing seen so far this season. Drivers will converge on the Pole Position Kart circuit at the National Sports Stadium, bringing with them a mix of seasoned experience and rising young talent.

The depth of the grid in several categories and a challenging new track configuration suggest fans can look forward to tightly contested heats, strategic racing and thrilling finishes.

Adding further excitement to the weekend is the club’s ongoing Rotax Challenge, an authorised Rotax South Africa championship.

The initiative has injected extra intensity into the season, with competitors battling not only for race-day honours, but also for a highly coveted regional opportunity.

The winner of the Rotax Challenge will receive tyres and free entry to the prestigious Rotax African Open at Zwartkops Raceway this July, providing a valuable platform to compete against some of Africa’s best drivers.

Equally significant is the Mini ROK Championship, which continues to shine a spotlight on Zimbabwe’s emerging young talent.

The championship winner will earn a remarkable opportunity to compete at the ROK World Finals in Italy — an elite international event that attracts over 400 competitors from more than 40 countries.

This global exposure represents a major stepping stone for any young driver looking to make their mark in motorsport.

The local promoters, ROK Cup Zimbabwe, have played a key role in elevating the championship, offering impressive prizes and trophies that continue to motivate and reward competitors throughout the season.

Their support has strengthened the development pathway for junior racers and added further prestige to the local karting calendar.

Beyond the racing itself, Pole Position Karts continues to make significant strides in developing its facilities.

Recent upgrades to the venue include a newly established timing office, enhancing race management accuracy and efficiency, as well as a fully stocked kart shop to support competitors with essential parts and services.

In addition, the construction of a modern control tower marks a major step forward in improving race operations, safety oversight and overall event coordination.

These developments underscore the club’s long-term commitment to growing the sport at both grassroots and competitive levels.

By investing in infrastructure and fostering a welcoming environment for drivers of all ages, the club is positioning itself as a key driver of motorsport development in Zimbabwe.

As engines fire up today, spectators can expect not just high-speed excitement, but a clear demonstration of a sport — and a club — on the move towards a bright and competitive era for karting in Zimbabwe.
