Former Generations star Katlego Danke has reaffirmed her commitment to the Zimbabwe-made human trafficking film Ziyanda, despite her new full time role on South African daily soapie Isidingo.
According to the showa��s producers however, the star of the movie and Dankea��s fellow South African actress Zintle Ncipa is yet to confirm her availability for the film as she is engaged on other projects overseas.
a�?We got assurance from Katlego that she is still fully on board with the project. She said she is still committed to it and once the cameras start rolling she will be available.a�?
a�?With Ncipha wea��re not entirely sure just yet. She is overseas as of now,a�? said the filma��s executive director Dumisani Nkomo.
After three years in the wilderness since she relinquished her role as Dineo Mashaba on Generations, Danke made a comeback to the big time on 1 November last year when she got a role on Kgothalo, a gutsy go-getter.
Danke was earmarked with Ncipa as the stars that were going to propel the show, but after two years without filming, naysayers were now casting doubt about their availability, especially the former because of her new commitments on Isidingo.
Ziyanda was initially set to feature South Africaa��s Luthuli Dlamini, Danke and Zintle Ncipha, alongside Zimbabwea��s Penelope Moyo, ZBCTv presenter Nyasha Mtamangira and gospel musician, Pastor G.
A trailer of the feature film was launched two years ago at a high profile event at Impala Lodge, where Dankie and Ncipa attended, but has failed on numerous occasions to take off due to financial constraints.
Meanwhile Nkomo said that they had been tweaking the script, while they were looking to add more local star power.
a�?Wea��re beefing up our cast. A number of young Zimbabwean actors have joined us recently and in March wea��re going to introduce two new local stars. These will be the faces of the film on the Zimbabwean side,a�? he said.
