But Kawara has since matured over the years and now boasts a fully fledged and dynamic band.
Fronting the youthful Shades of Black, Kawara is known for getting it right on the vocals, sound quality, playlist and also interacts well with the audience.
Kawara is also known for dishing out a full package with drummer Lesley Gurumani, lead guitarist Tawanda Ndoro, bassist Edwin Matambira and Cornelius Muponda (keyboard) and backing vocalist Ndomupei Masendeke, who have proved to be an amazing team whenever they set their minds to entertain their fans.
Alexio has been one of the most consistent young musicians and his music has come of age since he burst on to the music scene with the group Guest at the turn of the century.
Kawara, who is an afro-fusion musician, has a number of hit tracks that include “Shaina” and “Tinodanana” that he did with Tererai Mugwadi and Kana.
On the day of the show, fans will have the opportunity to sample some of the songs on his latest album “Tose”.
The young crooner, who is enjoying rave reviews following the release of “Tose” is in the category of a rare breed group of young Zimbabwean musicians, who have remained professional, while delivering top-notch acts.
In most of his shows, Alexio has often measured up to the task and often sets the entertainment bar high.
His zeal for perfection and his level of ingenuity is unmatched.
For a musician who carved his career from a nurtured hobby in 1999, Alexio’s discography continues to get better with each new release.
When he released, the hit song “Shaina”, many critics did not take him seriously and actually categorised his music in the growing portfolio of “fly-by-night” artistes.
However, his second album “Rwiyo Rwangu”, which carried hits like “Musikana Akanaka”, proved to be better than his first one and less than two weeks after its release, “Alexio’s sound” was already receiving rave reviews and heavy rotations at public and private events.
One thing that you can’t doubt is that whenever he gets on stage, he gives out his best and never shies away from introducing something, if it excites the crowd.
He recently had a good day in the office when he shared the stage with South African songbird Zahara on the song “Incwadi Encane” that she originally did with Zimbabwean George Munetsi.
