NGEZI Platinum Stars goalkeeper, Nelson Chadya, says they are using their Castle Premier League games as preparations for their CAF Champions League debut next month.
They will play AS Maniema of the DRC in the preliminary round of the tournament.
Ngezi will be at home in the first leg before the second leg is played a week later.
The defending champions are currently on a seven-match winning run.
Their last defeat came away to Simba Bhora on May 11.
In their last seven games, they have scored 15 goals and conceeded five times.
“We are hoping to extend our winning record. Every game we play from now onwards is a must-win for us.
“We want to keep the momentum ahead of our Champions League game.
“We want to kill two birds with one stone. We also have to win games to successfully defend our championship title.
“At the same time, we want to boost our morale. These games will be more of preparatory games for us.”
However, the Zimbabwe champions have tricky opponents in their next four assignments.
They will face former champions FC Platinum away at Mandava on Saturday before hosting ZPC Kariba in their Week 20 fixture.
Takesure Chiragwi and his men will then travel to Murate for a date against Manica Diamonds in their Week 21 fixture and host Greenfuel the following week.
“It’s an advantage for our side that we are facing these tricky opponents now. They will help us better ourselves.
“This will help us know where we really stand as a team.
“If we can’t beat FC Platinum or Manica Diamonds, then how do we expect to do well in the Champions League?
“We must win these matches to show that we are ready.”
