Kelly Khumalo hosts empowering Mother’s Day healing circle

South African award-winning singer Kelly Khumalo on Mother’s Day hosted an event called Renew and Reclaim A Woman’s Healing Circle with Kelly Khumalo Felizwe.

Khumalo, in a post on Instagram, reflected on the success of the day, sharing how she felt and thanking those who came to the event.

“My heart is full, I have no words… all I can say is Lord, you are faithful and true. Thank you to all the Queens who showed up today,” she wrote.

In a separate post, the songstress shared pictures of the women lying on their backs, as though they were enjoying a sound bath. She revealed in her caption that the retreat was about “womb healing and cord cutting”.

Instagram user mamabolonomvula, who attended the event, commented on the post and shared her experience.”@Kellykhumaloza This event was everything! Exceeded my expectations! You gave so much of yourself & more. Thank you.”

Others who missed the event were asking about the next one and expressed a desire to purchase tickets.

Khumalo, in an Instagram video before her event, had shared a message about what happens when a connection has ended, which sparked the event.

“Do we ever think about the importance of taking our power back, taking our energy back, cutting the cord, womb cleaning and cleansing because some of us go through unnecessary blockage simply because we are connected to people that we have no business dealing with, and these people continue to glow using your energy,” she said in the video.

Last month, Kelly Khumalo opened up about her spirituality, addressing misconceptions surrounding her identity.

“I’m not a sangoma. I’m just a child of the spirit,” she stated, expressing her frustration with being labelled as a sangoma.

The singer emphasised the importance of recognising the various facets of spirituality beyond the sangoma identity.

“Please stop trying to box me into this and that,” she urged, highlighting that her journey has been unique and personal.

“I’m just a woman with gifts and I have access to them, and I use them,” she affirmed.

Khumalo shared her experiences with initiation, revealing that it was not a path suited for her.

“I’ve gone through that journey, having people make me drink blood and I drank it and got sick, feeling like something was sitting on my chest for years. It took years for me to get rid of that thing until I aligned properly. Ubungoma defeated me; let me just speak the honest truth,” she confessed.

In her video, Khumalo also critiqued healers who initiate individuals without properly assessing their gifts. “I recognise ubungoma and I respect those who are called to it; however, I am not umngoma,” she noted, revealing that she has undergone the initiation process four times.

“Don’t force things if you can see that something is not for you. Your body speaks, your spirit talks. Listen to your body,” she advised.

Khumalo explained that while she has undergone an initiation process, she prefers to define herself as a spiritual healer rather than conforming to the traditional role of a sangoma.

“When someone says that I’m a sangoma, I get annoyed. I’ve suppressed this for a while but now I feel that I should just let people know,” she added. – IOL
