KENYA rugby coach Jerome Paarwater believes his side showed a lot of character despite going down 22-28 to Zimbabwe at Prince Edward on Saturday.
Paarwater feels he has the foundation on which to build a competitive side to battle for a place at the next World Cup.
“It is not easy to get a win when you are away from home. The boys made a lot of effort and displayed some good rugby,” said Paarwater.
“Yes, we could have loved to beat Zimbabwe since they stopped us from going to the World Cup this year.
“But our major focus is really to build this team, which is a squad of young players.
“I am very proud of the boys, the way they came back just before the end of half-time and ending the first-half 17-17 was brilliant and I am sure they will grow to be a good side in the future.
“This was the second time for Zimbabwe to beat us (in successive matches) and all we can say is well done to Zimbabwe.”
Sables flank Fortune Chipendu believes they could have scored a lot of tries on Saturday.
“We played well and we could have scored many tries but we relaxed just before half-time and Kenya took advantage of that.
“We enjoyed the game but I think next time we must win by a bigger score,” said Chipendu.
