Kenya take the lead

KENYA took control of the Gilberson and Page Trophy, leading Zimbabwe by a single point, after the opening day of competition at Borrowdale Brooke on Tuesday.

The Kenyan team is made up of seasoned players in Naomi Wafula, who partnered Agnes Nyakio in the foursomes, Kellie Gachaga and Christna Angel Anderson.

They have been dominating the event after winning the last edition in 2013. The foursomes saw the hosts, Zimbabwe, who had Batsirai Tilowakuti, Aulia Alfazema and Yollanda Mubaiwa, recording nine points, four ahead of Kenya, who managed five points as Zambia finished on four points.

Zimbabwe were also impressive in the singles where they finished second on 11 points behind Kenya who had 16 points as Zambia were in last place on nine points. Zambia have in their team the Zimbabwe Ladies Champion Angel Eaton who won the event at Chapman last year.
