THE Sports Commission Board will meet to receive and consider the report of their Commission of Inquiry into the state of football in this country on August 15 this year.
The Commission’s corporate communications executive, Tirivashe Nheweyembwa , yesterday announced that there was overwhelming response to the exercise.
“The SRC would like to advise that considerable progress has been made in the inquiry on the state and administration of football,” he said in a statement.
“Due to the overwhelming response to the inquiry and the significance of the issues under review, the Committee of Inquiry’s deadline for submitting the report was extended and the SRC Board meeting to receive and consider the Committee’s report has been rescheduled to 15 August 2015.
“The Ministry of Sport, Arts and Culture will thereafter be briefed before the findings and way forward are communicated to other interested parties.
“The SRC would like to express its gratitude to everyone who managed to provide input into the report and is confident that this co-operative effort will herald a new era of success in our football.”
Meanwhile, the Sports Commission have congratulated swimming queen, Kirsty Coventry, for qualifying for the 2016 Olympic Games.
“The Sports and Recreation Commission Board, Management and Staff wishes to extend their hearty congratulations to Kirsty Coventry for qualifying for the Rio 2016 Olympics during the 100m backstroke competition at the ongoing 16th FINA World Swimming Championships in Kazan, Russia with a time of 1:00.09 seconds,” Nheweyembwa said in a statement.
