A Kenyan man, Patrick Kipyegon Lang (39), faced the Plumtree Magistrate Court this week after illegally entering Zimbabwe to spend time with his girlfriend.
Lang admitted to overstaying his visit, citing love as his reason for his actions. In court, Lang pleaded guilty, stating, “Your Worship, I desperately wanted to see my girlfriend. That’s why I illegally entered this country to spend the holidays with her.”
Magistrate Joshua Nembaware imposed a $100 fine on Lang, warning him that failure to pay would result in a one-month jail sentence.
Prosecutor Selestine Madziwa, revealed that Lang entered Zimbabwe on December 21 without a passport at the Beitbridge border post.
He travelled to Plumtree to visit his girlfriend but was arrested on January 3 when he attempted to return to Kenya. Officials noted that his passport did not have an entry stamp. —Byo24News)
