But the forward never got any game time when Callisto Pasuwa took over as the DeMbare head coach while veteran forward Cuthbert Malajila came to command a regular jersey as Roderick Mutuma also hit top form.
Mutuma finished as the Golden Boot winner while the leadership of Malajila helped the Glamour Boys to lift both the league championship and the Mbada Diamonds Cup.
Khumbula has not been registered for this year’s Champions League and is unlikely to be considered for the Premiership campaign along with Nicholas Arufandika.
“I am now training with Gunners and it’s promising. There was no game time at Dynamos for me and in fact I never played a single game in the last quarter of last season,” said Khumbula.
Legally, Khumbula is still a Dynamos player as he has a contract until December 2013. “It’s certain that Dynamos won’t be needing me this season but at least Gunners have shown an interest.
“The coaches want me and hopefully I should be turning out for Gunners this season. My game had gone down and I need to pick up again,” he said.
However, Khumbula will have to keep guessing before he could finally play for Gunners.
“I still have to get a clearance from Dynamos so that I am registered with a new club.
“For now, Dynamos have not issued anything and I do not know what’s happening but maybe it will be soon. I understand Dynamos want to loan me out until the end of the year,” said Khumbula.
