AN Odzi man was last Saturday allegedly murdered by a church-mate after the latter accused him of making noise with his cellphone during a service.

Panganai Mutinhima (18) allegedly stabbed Silas Magara on the left rib and upper arm. Magara bled profusely and died on the spot. The suspect vanished soon after committing the offence.

Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa, confirmed the murder which happened in Village B1, Mutanda 2 in Chief Makoni’s area.

Mutinhima, Magara and Mugari were coming from a church service at Chinota Business Centre when they had a misunderstanding.

Mutinhima confronted Magara on why he was making noise with his cellphone during a church service.  The two started fighting. Mutinhima produced an Okapi knife and stabbed Magara on the left rib and upper arm before he vanished.

Mugari rushed to tell Magara’s father who alerted other villagers and rushed to the scene.
“We have since launched a manhunt for Mutinhima. We appeal to members of the public with information leading to his arrest to contact their nearest police station.

“We urge people to settle disputes amicably and maturely,” Insp Kakohwa said.
