guilty to three counts of driving without a licence, culpable homicide and drunken driving.
Chitungwiza magistrate Mr Kudakwashe Jarabini slapped him with seven years, but set aside two years on condition of good behaviour. Prosecutor Mr Lovet Muringwa proved that on April 21 and at around 5.20pm, Chamunorwa was driving a commuter omnibus Toyota Hiace with no passengers on board along Machingura Road in Zengeza 3. Rodrick Zvarai was walking along Kubvumbi Road while holding his son and his bicycle. Tragedy struck when the drunken Chamunorwa approached the intersection of Machingura and Kubvumbi Road and failed to give way.
He turned left into Kubvumbi Road, but lost control of the vehicle which veered off the road.
In a bid to avoid a head-on collision with a lorry travelling in the opposite direction, Chamunorwa hit Zvarai and his son. The impact resulted in the death of the minor on the spot after he sustained serious head injuries, while Zvarai escaped with minor injuries.
Chamunorwa tried to flee from the scene leaving the bus, but was apprehended by people.
